Dahi vada

Dahi vada is a very popular dish .This dish is made with many variations with different names.This deep fried dish is served with yogurt.Popular Iftar recipe in Hyderabad.

Ingredients:

1 cup urad dal(husked black gram)
1/2 teaspoon salt.
Oil for deep frying.


Other ingredients:

2 cups of yogurt beaten.
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons roasted cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper powder.
1/2 teaspoon black salt powder

For garnishing:
chat masala powder 
1/2 cup sev
2 tablespoons grated carrot.
1 finely chopped green chilly.
1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh coriander.

Preparation:

Wash and soak dal for 5 to 6 hours,drain all the water ,make a fine paste adding 1 teaspoon salt.
Heat the oil in a deep frying  pan,Shape dal batter into vadas ,taking 1 teaspoon of batter at a time,deep fry till golden brow over medium to high flame.
Repeat this with rest of the batter.



Place the fried vadas in water(image shows 1 person serving) for 5 minutes,Squeeze out the vada gently,arrange them on serving plate.

Mix salt,chilly powder,black salt,cumin powder in yogurt.
Cover the vada's with this yogurt.
Garnish with chopped chillies,chat powder,sev ,fresh coriander,grated carrot according to taste and serve.
